Peter Gisolfi is an architect, landscape architect and educator whose substantial design practice extends over 20 years. Most of his work consists of carefully crafted buildings that relate to a larger setting. A variety of public and private projects completed throughout the United States are featured in this first monograph. The projects in this book are organised thematically as landscapes and buildings, gardens and houses, campuses, townscapes, and transformations. The common threads in these projects are that indoor and outdoor spaces are created in harmony with each other, that buildings are placed to define outdoor spaces, and that natural context and man-made context strongly influence the design. Peter Pran is often acclaimed as one of the world's most innovative and creative architects. This Norwegian-American has won fifteen national and international design competitions, two AIA design honor awards, including the 2004 design honor award for the Telenor Headquarters, and twelve New York design awards and two American design awards. He has designed buildings in the USA, Canada, Europe, Asia, the Middle East and South America. James Wines is a larger-than-life character whose work cuts a swathe through modern architecture. Since 1970, when he founded SITE, the highly regarded architecture and environmental arts organisation based in New York, he and his practice have led the way in progressing a more socially and environmentally responsive architecture. Early work from the office includes iconic structures such as the Notch Project (1977), Sacramento, California.
