В сборник включены материалы, отражающие научную и учебную деятельность Историко-архивного института Российского государственного гуманитарного университета. Выполнен предварительный прогноз изменения питания подземных вод в XXI веке при различных сценариях изменений климата. Большое внимание уделено формированию подземного стока и ресурсов подземных вод в условиях развития многолетнемерзлых пород, охватывающих в настоящее время около 2/3 всей территории России. Показано, что потепление климата в арктических широтах в значительной степени вызвано выбросами метана и углекислого газа из оттаивающих пород криолитозоны, создающих дополнительный парниковый эффект. Выполнен анализ формирования качества пресных подземных вод в условиях интенсивного влияния инженерно-хозяйственной деятельности и изменений климата. Показано влияние Чернобыльской аварии на радиоактивное загрязнение подземных вод. Для наиболее дефицитных по водным ресурсам Южного и Северо-Кавказского федеральных округов построены и проанализированы карты превышения предельно допустимых концентраций (ПДК) отдельных компонентов состава подземных вод основных водоносных горизонтов. Рассмотрены современные данные о болезнетворном действии антропогенных загрязнений и природного состава подземных вод. Изложены основы медико-экологических подходов в системе принятия решений по управлению ресурсами подземных вод. В монографии анализируется влияние крупного отбора подземных вод на окружающую среду. Приведены многочисленные отечественные и зарубежные примеры влияния крупных откачек подземных вод на речной сток, на снижение уровня воды в озерах, проседание земной поверхности, интрузию морских вод в берега. Эта глава подготовлена при участии американских специалистов с учетом их согласия на публикацию.
